Put ice as soon as you can. I got a burn the other day on a finger while cooking and used ice on it all evening. It healed without any further need for anything.

Though many mothers and grandmothers have touted this technique, it is completely innefective. First aid for a minor burn is to use an ice pack wrapped in a towel and cool the burn for several minutes.

No! You should never put butter on a burn. It can cause a serious infection to start. The best treatment for a burn is to run the burnt area under cool running water for 15 minutes and then apply a post burn cream, or if not available then an antibiotic cream like polysporin or neosporin. If the burn covers a large area or is blistered or the skin has changed to any colour other than red, you should seek medical attention as soon as possible.

Applying butter to a burn is probably one of the worst things you can do. The best approach to a new burn is to first STOP the burning by cooling the area. For first and second degree burns, immersion in cool water will help stop burn damage and provide pain relief. Do not break any blisters you see. Never apply creams or butter to a fresh burn. For any burn over 10 percent of the body, which is about the size of the adult hand, medical attention should be sought.

Normally we use ice pack on the burns as it gives us relief because when on an affected area we put cold substances it reduces the formation of blisters and other itching sensations , but if we apply butter on the wound it will start being more irruptive and the blisters will surely gonna take place

You should not put butter on a burn. This was an old folk remedy that has since been shown to be a myth and it probably does more harm than good.

Butter should not be used to treat burns. Aloe Vera is a preferred treatment. Strong tea is a good home remedy treatment if you have no Aloe Vera.
