Glass was certainly created in the medieval period, but it was definitely not invented then. The ancient Egyptians made a type of glass (faience) and the Romans got glass-making techniques from the Hellenistic culture.
At the fall of the Roman Empire the manufacture of glass ceased in most of Europe, only to start again during the 12th century (in the middle ages).
