In America: Soldiers are members of an army. Sailors are members of a navy. Airmen are aviation personnel, normally as members of an Air Force; Marines are Marines and are assigned to the US Navy. Surely you must mean how many US Servicemen were killed in WWII contrasted with the Vietnam War...because there ARE break-down statistics for "Soldier" casualties ONLY; for example, over 58,000 US servicemen were killed in Vietnam...of that figure, about 38,209 were US SOLDIERS.

The biggest killer of the American Soldiers and all the other nations' soldiers was disease, exposure, hunger and the worldwide influenza that killed more people in the war than wounds and fatal blows. I don't remember what they called that influenza that killed millions around the world but it wiped out a lot of the troops and the European civilian's. It hit all the continents from what I understand.
Actually, they are representative of the soldiers who fought in Vietnam. One is a Marine, the others are Army or possibly Airforce (we both wore the same uniform in Vietnam. One is Hispanic, one Black, one Caucasian. One is an officer, the others are enlisted. There was an uproar among veterans after the Vietnam Memorial was dedicated calling it "The Black Gash of Shame." In response, the three soldiers statue was added to represent living veterans of the Vietnam War. More recently, a statue to represent the women who served was added.
