Somewhat. But if the Canadians didn't attack, D-Day wouldn't have succeeded because the loss taught the allies what changes had to be made. The attack wasn't too bad, but the withdraw was the part that most people died in. But Orange beach was a complete success. They inflicted heavy casualties upon German forces and barely lost any.

This info about the battle of dieppe date place who was involved type of fighting during the battle Canada's role in the battle final outcome what battle meantr and did for canadians?

Working from the top of the head, the Dieppe operation was in August of '42. It was a mostly Canadian operation, although some British Commandos and US Rangers were present. Great Britain was under pressure from Russia to open a second front against the Germans in Western Europe, but Churchill's erratic policy forbade a large-scale invasion. He preferred to strike against the Italians in the Med and North Africa, and occupied Norway. The idea was to seize a channel port and hold it. Seven Canadian regiments were committed, including the 14th (the Calgary Tanks) using the new Churchill heavy tank for the first time. The beach at Dieppe is made of small rocks like Brighton Beach in England, and many of the Churchills bogged down. Others were stuck in the landing craft because the doors had been damaged by German fire. Of the Calgary Churchills which reached the sea wall, only two made it over and into the city, and these were useless because the Germans had installed tank obstacles on the streets. The Dieppe operation was a disaster. It has been described as too large for a raid and too small for an invasion. Yet, much was learned from this mistake, which saved many Canadian lives on Juno Beach at Normany two years later.

What happened during Dieppe?

The outcome was that the German's won. Allied forces stormed beaches at the wrong times and got killed. The only good that came out of this is that, commanders used the failures of the Dieppe Raid to build on them and perfect them.
