the reason it happend way because 2 plates were subduting (one plate way pushing anouther plate down) evenchaly the plkate snaped back into place macing the earth rise by 20m waking a wave. there was 4 waves from all the shockwaves put into the water some siantists say it had the force of 35000 atomic bombs - i don't belive- hope this helps

Indonesian earthquake happened due to the the plate beneath the earths crust rubbing together against the other plates the plates move frequently so you cant tell for definite if or when the next quake can happen but a quake is to do with the fault line being in the wrong place at the wrong time hope you found this useful .

∙ 12y agoYes there was. Tsunamis can happen quite frequently (as far as natural disasters go) because of Indonesia's location. The many Islands of Indonesia are located on the Ring of Fire. Because of this earth quakes are extremely common in Indonesia. It is when these earthquakes, specifically the large ones, occur somewhere in the ocean and cause a massive swell that grows and makes it's way towards land where it becomes a tsunami.

The first thing that happened in Japan was the earthquake. The earthquake itself would have been a disaster but then there was a tsunami. Earthquakes are made by the earth's plates were shifting. This shifting may have cause the tsunami as well.
