We are just about to purchase a pet lamb and you would be grateful if people can tell us exactly what grains lamb eat. And anything else except grass?

Sheep wil eat almost any plant that grows. They are not particularly smart and do not realise when they've eaten too much of a good thing. Some of my fathers sheep poisoned themselves by eating too much acidic fruit. The thing to be sure of is what your lamb has available in the paddock.
Sheep will enjoy most grains, especially wheat and oats. You really need to watch out how much grain you feed your lamb as grain is a concerntrate and needs to be fed only in small quantities along with plenty of bulk feed such as grass, hay or silage. Ensure that your lamb is getting well over double the ammount of Bulk feed than it is getting in concerntrate feed. Also young lambs are unable to digest feed very well for some months due to the way in which their digestive tract developes so in the young stages of your lambs life you may be better not to feed your lamb any concerntrates as he will be unable to digest it and you will be wasting your money. You can also get supplemental pelletised foods for sheep. Hay is also a good food source.
PLEASE do not get just one lamb!
Have you thought this through? Your "pet" is ging to get to be about 200#, depending on breed. It is going to need housing, and a pasture to graze, or a lot of hay.
The sheep is going to have to be sheared once a year. Have you though of how you're going to achieve this?
Do you have a veterinarian that is familiar will farm animals? Not all of them are. Sheep do get sick.
Have you learned how to do feet? Their feet need trimming about every 2 months. Not an easy job with a 200# animal.
PLEASE think it aver again, and as has already been said, PLEASE don't get just one. Not only will the animal have problems, but it will cause you untold problems.
