KETTLEDRUM
The Kitchen Musical was created on 2011-10-21.
The pipe organ in the Macy's store in Center City Philadelphia is the largest functioning musical instrument in the world. It is known as the Wanamaker Organ as it is housed in what was once a Wanamakers department store. First used on site at the St. Louis World's Fair, it was purchased by John Wanamaker and and installed in his flagship store in 1904. It contains over 28,000 pipes and is operated by 600 horsepower of engines to fill the blowers. The actual largest musical instrument is the pipe organ in the Atlantic City Convention Hall in Atlantic City, NJ. It contains over 33,000 pipes but is currently only about 10% functioning. The Great Stalacpipe Organ, Luray Caverns, Luray, VA, USA: Stalactites covering 3 1/2 acres of the surrounding caverns produce tones of symphonic quality when electronically tapped by rubber-tipped mallets. This most unique, one-of-a-kind instrument was invented in 1954 by Mr. Leland W. Sprinkle of Springfield, Virginia, a mathematician and electronic scientist at the Pentagon. If you are talking about musical instruments, then it is the pipe organ in the Macy's store in Center City Philadelphia. That is the largest functioning musical instrument. The actual largest musical instrument is the pipe organ in the Atlantic City Convention Hall in Atlantic City, NJ. it is much bigger, but only about 10% functioning. Defenantly a pipe organ. Many think the double bass but defenantly a pipe organ.
