Liverpool, England is famous for being the home town of the Beatles. It was the 2008 European Capital of Culture and it is known for its "Three Graces," which are three iconic buildings which stand close to the River Mersey. In the 1960s it was known as the birthplace of the style of music known as Mersey Beat. It is also known as the birthplace of The Beatles pop group. Liverpool is the home of both Everton and Liverpool Football Clubs, both of which play in the English Premier League. Liverpool has many reknown public building, such as the Bluecoat school and St. Georges Hall. Liverpool also has many parks and its Ferry, which travels back and forth across the River Mersey is well known as a means of transport and it was also mentioned in the 1960s Jerry and the Pacemaker's hit single "Ferry Across The Mersey." Liverpool is also home to Britains oldest "China Town."
