GIFs have a file extension of .GIF.
JPEGJPEGs, as opposed to GIFs, can display millions of colors and therefore are better for images such as photographs. You can also manipulate JPEGs with image editing software, however rather than manipulating each color, you adjust the level of compression that will determine the end file size.If you incorrectly save an image in JPEG format, you might notice that it's not as clean as it could be. If you go back and save the original image in GIF format, you will notice that it becomes much cleaner. This is particularly obvious when your image contains text.
JPEGs have a file extension of .JPEG, .JPG, or .JPE.
jpeg is smaller (followed by png, gif and a bmp-which is largest).
GIF are images that are moving, aminated. While JPEG images are still.
There are multiple differences between GIF images and JPEG images. One main difference is that a GIF may show an animation, while a JPEG is simply one still picture.
JPEG represents the color on 24bit (i.e. 2^24 colors).GIF only supports 2^8 colors = 256 colorsThe answer is JPEG.
The effect of the GIF,JPEG,PNG,BMP and TIFF on the data transfer
A GIF does the same as a JPEG just uses less space and can be used in different programs
Just open the jpeg image in photo shop and go to menus : file --> save for web and devices. A save for web and devices window will open, set its extension to gif then click on save button. It will save your jpeg image to gif image. Cheers
Animated JPEG are multiple single jpeg images that is runned under a javascript which runs the jpeg like a animated GIF, by frames of each images.
GIF is an indexed image. Meaning it can only have 256 colors. However .GIF can be animated and they can have a transparent background. .JPEG can not be animated and can not have transparent backgrounds. While .JPEG are full color, not limited to 256 colors (8-bit). So .GIF are used for animated images, and images with only a few colors. .GIF makes sharp, crisp images. .GIF images are used in web design. On the other hand .JPEG seem to blur the pixels together. But that is fine for photographs. So use .JPEG for photographs or artwork. Use .GIF for animations, transparent backgrounded images, and things that need crisp edges, like web design. somboy
