The term 'Four-Way'In this context probably refers to the number of actual speaker elements included. These usually consist of:- Woofers...These handle the low, bass notes. Mids (or 'Mid range')...Usually for (as the name implies) the middle frequencies. Tweeters...For the high frequency sounds. Two-way speakers would usually have two of these fitted. Either woofer and mids or mids and tweeters. Three-way usually have woofers, mids and tweeters (for better response) Four-Ways will have either one of these elements repeated (i.e. two tweeters or woofers), or they may have a 'Sub-Woofer' fitted, for VERY low frequencies (So low you can feel, rather than hear them).
