Social Welfare is an overarching construct that relates to the supports for the basic human needs and how society will provide for these needs. Social Welfare also is a term used to represent the systems that provide these needs. Social Workers are concerned with social welfare and often work within the social welfare systems. There are a few schools of socail work that are organized around social welfare (CU Berkely being the best known).
