Some churches teach that gays are equal and marriage equality is the right thing to do, but those are few. Some churches teach that gays are to be welcomed, but that their relationships are sinful. Some churches teach that gay people must remain celibate. Some churches teach that gays are sinful and must be converted to heterosexuals in order to save their souls. Some churches teach that gay people are evil and must be avoided at all costs.

Some churches permit same-sex marriages to be conducted, but these are few. Some churches that allow gay clergy permit them to be in same-sex marriages. Some churches permit special blessing ceremonies for already married same-sex couples. Some churches permit gay people to join, but do not recognize their relationships. Some churches spend time, effort and money to influence legislatures to ban same-sex marriage. Some churches permit gay people to join, but attempt to convert them to heterosexuals and assist them in marrying members of the opposite sex. Some churches shun gays and lesbians, ban then from joining and expel them when they are discovered. There is even one church that devotes all of their ministry to traveling around the country and protesting against gays and same-sex marriage.

The king James version bible in Christianity states that it is a sin under god to be homosexual and you can not go to heaven if you are.

It is important to note that The Bible does not state that those who are homosexuals will "not go to Heaven". If anyone repents of a sin (that is, anything which is against what the Bible teaches) and turns to Christ, he or she is assured of salvation. Those, however, who actively engage in homosexual behaviour despite being taught that it is against God and the Bible, will not receive the eternal life Christ preaches.

Views of Christians vary, but most will say that gay people are perfectly acceptable and welcome, as long as they don't pursue intimate relationships and/or get married.

Some Christians interpret their scriptures more liberally, and allow gay people the same expression of intimacy they allow straight people.

There are also some Christians who believe it's possible to sin in one's thoughts, and say that gay people are unrepentant sinners even if they are celibate.
