Escape the fate: smooth
No, death metal is not for emo's such bands as "Hawthorne Heights" and "Madina Lake" are emo bands death metal is more advanced and for more hardcore people and FYI everyone Joe Gardner has an egg dick. It's pretty simple. Emo music wants to kill itself, death metal wants to kill other people (the more, and the more brutally, the better).
Whatever they want
According to Wikipedia they are an Alternative rock, emo, pop punk band. Though from being a fan for 3 years, and listening to all of their albums I would venture to say they are more Alternative rock/ pop punk more than emo.
Well these are Christian rock bands: Paramore and Flyleaf. Another Christian emo band is ravish... myspace.com/ravishrocks or at facebook.com/ravishrocks
NO the Misfits formed in the 70s and predate emo. They are one of the bands that helped invent punk. Okay, emo grew out of punk (very, very watered down and weakened) but the Misfits are by no means emo.
There is no such thing as "emo bands". there is only "emo-hardcore".
emo
Older emo bands were more of an underground sort of sound. Bands like Sunny Day Real Estate, Mineral, The Promise Ring and Texas Is The Reason were considered emo bands. Bands that are considered emo now are Alesansa and Silverstein.

Emo was A Genre before it was a Label And/Or A way of life, when A Band is called Emo, It would only be because of the style of their Music. Some Bands may Cut, but that's just up to them. Examples of "Emo" Bands; Hawthorne Heights, Fugazi, My Chemical Romance, Thursday, Automatic LoveLetter, Mest. Etc.. Not all of these bands neccessarily Cut, but their Music is Emo, As a Genre :P. =)
My Chemical Romance and Three Days Grace? Maybe?
Whatever they want
Emo and punk are two different things. There are no good emo bands. that's a lie extreme clown posse is pretty good **Insane Clown Posse** ------ Why don't you try out The Used, Yellowcard, My Chemical Romance, or Metallica? Metallica is considered metal.
Yes, screamo is a sub-genre of emo (which itself is a sub-genre of punk).
Some people dress like emo but aren't emo. Dressing like emo differs from each person but the regular stuff are skinny jeans, all star shoes, wrist bands, black makeup, hair covers atleast one eye, musical T-shirts so on. To be emo is much deeper. We are very poetic and musical. We value music and poetry the same as life it's self. without music, without poetry there can be no life.
The history of punk is longer than emo. Punk started in the 1970's The Ramones which influenced other bands like The Clash The Sex Pistols and The Casualites to name a few popular ones. Most emo bands like My Chemical Romance and From First to last were influenced by bands like The Misfits other goth, heavy metal bands and punk.
