Try and get advice and support from woman's' aid, you will find others I'm the same position as yourself. These women have been there, so have I, there are trained counselors, women who will go to court with you if needed. Also women's aid have refuges if this mans behaviour gets worse. Solicitors, police will help. I strongly advise you to see a doctor in case you become depressed. You are NOT MAD or any horrible things he says. This man is a looser, a control freak. Sadly in time you will find this man will threaten violence, he may resort to it. Don't be embarrassed, you're not to blame this man's insecure and jealous. YOU MUST TALK to your most TRUSTED FRIENDS. GET HELP VALUE YOURSELF. I KNOW FROM EXPERIENCE IT GETS WORSE. YOU WILL BE TOLD HE LOVES YOU HE ONLY LOVES HIMSELF.DON'T BE FOOLED HE'LL NEVER CHANGE. . . Sadly there are many men like him. Does he demand sex/ withhold money /.There are a lot of forms of abuse. When you are ready you will get out. Trust me, this relationship is going no where. GOOD LUCK...TAKE CARE I agree that you should seek either counseling or help from an Abused Women's Center. Verbal abuse can be as damaging as physical abuse with the exception of not seeing scars or bruises on your body (but in your mind and heart) where no one can see it like physical abuse. Even if you have children this is not a good environment for them to be in. If you decide to seek help plan well. It's important to get legal counsel if you are planning on divorce (you do have a right to some of what you put into the relationship) and if you have children you will need help with child support. In my experience well over 80% of mental/physical abusers refuse to seek counseling and will fight giving support to their children or even parting with the home and contents. All abusers are not just men, but can be women too (not that you are) but many people don't realize this. You are stronger than you think. Good luck

Is staying in abusive relationship a good idea?

You should definitely go. An abusive relationship is unhealthy for you both physically and emotionally. If you continue to stay with that abusive person, you will more than likely end up being attracted to more abusive people in the future. In fact some abusive relationships can lead to suicide and/or being murdered.

My emotionally abusive bf walked away from our relationship and acts as if he can move on but I am not dealing so well with the ending of the relationship why?

Get and read the book WOMEN WHO LOVE PSYCHOPATHS Don't be put off by the title - it will help you understand. Take this as a sign that this man isn't right for you in the first place hence "Emotionally abusive.. You would want him to walk away. Rather than torture you into staying in a emotionally ill relationship, You get to move on with your life.. Everything happens for a reason take this as a lesson about relationships. You need to see a therapist to talk about your relationship. I'm actually seeing one for a previous relationship that was unhealthy..

How do you get help when you are in a very bad abusive relationship?

When you are in a very bad abusive relationship, you should use caution while building your plan to get to a safe place. Seek local resources that might be useful, including advocates that can help in putting together a safety plan and in utilizing whatever legal resources might be useful or necessary in your plan. Build your plan erring on the side of paranoia -- leaving an abusive relationship is the most dangerous time in an abusive relationship. When you have a plan, follow it, even when you're scared. It is very unlikely that anything in your relationship will change until you are in a safe place.
