Survival foods are typically thought of as easily-stored edibles with long shelf lives to be eaten in case of dire straits for the sake of survival. Determining which survival foods to buy and store is a matter of your situation, the number of people in your household and personal taste. For some, a ready-made survival kit with freeze dried meal portions, water rations, flashlight, foil blanket and radio will provide adequate peace of mind for most short-term emergencies. Other families prefer to have a year's worth of food stored for times of necessity, and eat from and rotate their food stores on a regular basis.
I have researched survival foods and found some very informative information available. You can check the livescience site, as well as wilderness-survival dot net.

Water is essential to life, therefore a container that allows for water storage is very important in regards to survival supplies. A water purification kit is essential too. A first aid kit, non-perishable foods and matches are also good survival supplies to have.
