Unfortunately modern batteries do not have carbon rods. To prevent punch through leaks from the zinc can, the carbon has been moved to a coating on the inside of a steel can and the zinc has become a finned metal rod in the center.

Carbon arc lighting died out decades ago. The only carbon arc lamps still used today are restored World War II searchlights used for promotional purposes.
The carbon rods have electrical resistance. Thisi causes them to heat when current is passed through them. The water gets heated by the carbon rods.
carbon rods are good at conducting electricity because of the electrons in its outer shell. the electrons move easily. graphite and carbon rods are the only conducters which are not metal
You can get the cheapest carbon fiber rods for RC foam planes at rcfoam.com.
Lift the hood and behind the headlamps there are two L shaped rods that insert into the harness of the head lamps. Rotate the rods toward the grill, this unlocks the rods. Next remove the rods and this frees up the head lamps. Remove the headlamps from the grill allowing for access to the daytime running lamps. I left the headlamp wiring harnesses intact. The daytime running lamps have a lever that you push to unlock and then rotate to release and then you can change out the bulb easily. Reverse steps to replace lamp assemblies. This was a difficult find until I caught on to the above and then took less than five minutes. Have fun.
1-3 9 volt battery, 2 graphite rods, 2 wires, water Connect batteries together if you have more (positive to negative) Put wires on batteries. Put graphite rods on wires Put in water
All I know so far is, for the manufacture of tools, dies, rods, pipes, fences, and some other tools.
Modern light bulb filaments are usually Tungsten not Carbon. However early bulbs used things like silk coated with Carbon. Filament means thin thread. The bulbs are filled with inert gas like Argon to stop the filament from burning up with oxygen. Arc lamps use Carbon rods though.
One brand of battery lasts longer than another because of their ability to shed the gluing of the particulates of the chemical compounds while other batteries store the particulates on the charging rods for a much longer periods of time.
It depends on the precise material and the dimensions of the rod
first you load the film like in the standard projector set your starting frame in the window, open the side door to the housing and you will see 2 carbon arc rod holders one for the anode rod and one for the cathode rod. crank the advance mechanism to the far rearward settings and place the rods in the mounts. when starting movies bring rods together to touch creating an arc between the rods back off rods to allow light to fill gap on light card on top of projector housing rods will stay at set rate of travel. at end of 20 minutes reel do your change over to other projector and repeat process. use caution carbon arc rods are extremely hot after use.
