How do I find a Diagram for hayward filter handle position?

My husband and I just went thru this to no avail.... luckily my sister had the same hayward multi port valve and her sticker was still in tact. So on that note.... 12 o'clock is filter, 2 o'clock is waste, 4 o'clock is closed, 6 o'clock is bachwash, 8 o'clock is recirculate, and finbally 10 o'clock is rinse. we used fingernail polish to mark the positions, in case we forget again next spring.... Good luck

How do you clean the filter in a inground pool?

It would be reasonable to assume that this filter will be the same as an in ground filter. Here is what you do These are the instructions for backwashing a sand filter(1) stop the pool filter if it is going(2) empty out the leaf basket and the Hair filter so that there is no obstruction before the pump.(3)Turn the lever on the top of the sand filter from the filter position to the backwash position, usually in the opposite direction. You will note a clear bubble some where near the multi port control on the top of the sand filter, keep an eye on this once the backwash has started(4) switch the pump on. You will note water rushing around in the clear bubble. at firs the water will be clean then it will turn dirty when it clears up again let it run for another minute or so then turn of the pump.(5) now turn the lever on the top of the sand filter to rinse. once again you will notice the bubble get a title cloudy when it is clear let it run another 30 seconds and turn the pump of again.(6) Now turn the lever on top of the sand filter back to its original position which should be filter. and its all done. Some systems do not have the observation bubble. with these if you can see the backwash water go to waste keep an eye on it instead. or just wait til you loose about 100mm / 4" from the top of the pool.there is a possibility of getting a little cloudy water coming back into the pool after this, don't worry about it it will soon settle down and it only indicates that the rinse wasn't quite long enough.

How do you sypon sand from a pool filter?

The techinique I have used works pretty well but you have to remove the sand pile. 1) Open drain on bottom of filter. 2) Remove top valve assembly. 3) Remove sand screen from drain valve - needle nose pliers work. 4) Fill filter with water - a sand slurry should start from the drain. 5) Use a rod or screwdriver the periodically clear the drain to keep the flow going. 6) Add water and hose down the sand in the filter as needed. 7) Move the sand away from the drain to keep the flow continuous.

How did you get sand in the bottom of your pool?

If you do not see your water level going down on above ground pools they use sand for the bottom. My first guess would be that if you have a sand filter that the sand is coming from the filter just a bad or faulty gasket I do not know if you change the sand in your filter or you have someone do it, just have the person vacuum the sand up with the pool vacuum. have someone open the filter up and look at the gasket. A thin coat of sand? Well if is all over the bottom of the pool it is either a fine sediment that the filter cannot pick up or DE. If you have a DE filter and it is DE on the bottom of the pool you either have a problem with the internal components or, if you have a multiport valve, you may have a problem with that. What ever you have the best way to get rid of it is to vacuum it to waste. If you have a multiport valve you should have a setting marked waste and you would vacuum the pool while the valve was in this position. This bypasses the filer and run the water out the backwash line. Any other filter configuration I would have to know what type of configuration you have to advise you on how best to deal with this issue. If this "sand" is all in one spot by the return jet then you probably have a broke lateral at the bottom of the filer. You will need to replace the lateral and if the laterals are over 6 years old replace all of them.
