Seven major nutrients that the body needs are vitamins, minerals, protein, water, carbohydrates, fat and fiber. In order to keep the body healthy it's best to incorporate meals or snacks that provide it with a balance of these seven components in each meal
I don't know what you mean by "major" nutrients. If you mean major nutrients such as the majority of nutrients that comes from the foods you eat it is no doubt vitamin c, a, d, calcium, fiber, CARBS, PROTEIN, and FAT. although fat itsn't really a "good" nutrient, you need some to function properly.

The recommended food groups are grouped according to nutritive content. The "Basic Seven" food groups were first listed in 1942, and then reduced to the "Basic Four" food groups in 1956.
