When writing the play, the elements are the same of that as a story, only it is all dialogue and some stage direction. Plot, theme, setting, and characters are all necessary to make a complete play. Rhythm, language, and theme can also often be put into the work as well. Depending on the genre of play, the process could require more or less elements than others.
A play is a form of literature written by a playwright, usually consisting of scripted dialogue between characters, intended for theatrical performance rather than just reading.
Genres*Comedy, Farce, Satirical, Tragedy, Historical, TerminologyA stage has several main parts. First of all, the common stage directions are Down-Stage, Up-Stage, Stage-Left, and Stage-Right. If you are standing on stage facing the audience, down-stage is in front of you, up-stage is behind you, stage left is to your left, and right to your right (on a stage, stage right and stage left are always the actor's right or left, not the audience's right or left). Down-stage, most stages often curve. This curved area is called the Apron. Area where the audience sits is called the House. To the left and right off-stage are the Wings. Most Wings will often have curtains blocking the audience's view of off-stage. Some stages have a white-sheet up-stage that can be used to project colors/backgrounds onto. This sheet is called a Syc (pronounced SI-KE, as in psych)
