While most people see only differences between Conservative Republican Ronald Reagan and Liberal Democrat Franklin D. Roosevelt, they do share some similarities. Both Presidents were dynamic people who took office and took charge, transforming Americans views of the government. Reagan is known for his Reaganomics idea while Roosevelt is famous for his New Deal offerings. Reagan and Roosevelt took office after large declines and turned negatives into positives for the American people.

We were near the depths of the great depression, following the stock market crash of 1929. We had all the economic problems we have today, almost of the same severity. FDR plunged in and took over with the democrats, just as Obama did.
The only reason that Roosevelt was better than Hoover is because FDR exuded confidence in the suffering American people. Hoover's administration seemed hopeless, whereas charming, charismatic FDR promised change, which everyone liked (not unlike Obama after Bush's terms). Hoover was in office too briefly to be blamed for the economy's state, and FDR's policies didn't actually improve the economy: there was a terrible recession in 1938. WWII increased manufacturing production immensely, nearly eradicating unemployment. === The reason why FDR was better than Herbert Hoover was becasue he brought the country back to normal from the depression. Hoover brought us into the deression. Throughout it, poor people who had no homes lived in small shacks outside of cities called "Hoovervilles" and slept in "hoover blankets" which were old newspapers. FDR won the election of 1932 by a landslide against Hoover.
