By definition the natural environment is the condition of living and non-living things which occur in a state substantially not influenced by humans.

This means they exist and change only by natural forces like weather or predators for example rather than with human influence such as that in an urban environment or zoo which are synthetic. Without human intervention, materials and energy are recycled in a steady cycle which maintains the environment's organisms and landscape.

Features of a natural environment usually consist of a variety of adapted living organisms and cycles like that of water or rocks that determine the climate and terrain. This can include volcanoes, waterfalls, rivers, flood plains, rock formations...
