Most recipes for Hot Dogs combine together a tasty blend of favorite meats (pork, beef, chicken, or turkey), meat fat, a cereal filler which could be either bread crumbs, flour, or oatmeal, a little bit of egg white, and a mouth-watering array of herbs and seasonings including garlic, pepper, ground mustard, nutmeg, salt, and onion.

believe me you don't want to know. A few weeks ago the food network had a show on called History of the Hot Dog. I turned it off about 10 minutes into it they makes batches about 500 pounds of not the best grade of beef --- seasoning including onion extract, salt water paprika ---garlic extract among other things then they put these by-products and spices in a huge mixer and afterabout 1/2 hour they dump this blob of ingredients onto a table then get ready to process it into skinny casings which was about all I could standso I turned the channel. But the three brands of dogs that are made to higher standards and in my opinion are the best tasting and don't upset my stomach are Nathans and Hebrew National for grilling and Sabretts for boiling.
Hot dogs contain mostly rejected materials such as chicken feet and cow bladder but dont let that scare you they contain healthy and essential nutrients.

Ingredients in a hot dog include: mechanically deboned meats (some combination of beef, pork, chicken, or soy protein), spices, modified wheat flour (flour with high-protein starch), and natural casing.

Note that "100% all-meat" hot dogs may still contain fillers and binders. "Mustard" is classified as a spice even if it contains a certain % of flour in it. In such a case, the ingredient flour will not appear explicitly on the label.

If you mean what's inside the hot dog itself, that's various cuts of pork and/or beef that are cooked, ground very fine with spices and formed into hot dogs.

Hot dogs are also made from chicken, turkey, tofu, soy beans, and possible other meat substitutes.

Common hot dog ingredients include:

Pork and beef are the traditional meats used in hot dogs. Less expensive hot dogs are often made from chicken or turkey, using low-cost mechanically separated poultry. Hot dogs often have high sodium, fat and nitrite content, ingredients linked to health problems. Changes in meat technology and dietary preferences have led manufacturers to use turkey, chicken, vegetarian meat substitutes, and to lower the salt content.
