One key mistake I believe is that Spock readily accepts the notion of time travel even though in most Star Trek episodes where time travel is mentioned the Vulcans are always keen to mention that the Vulcan Science Directorate has no evidence to support Time Travel.
Any more Please Add!!! what about kirks older brother sam, there was no mention of him in the new movie??? === === I have not seen the new movie yet, but previous Star Trek history doubtlessly had to be rewritten in order to get the entire gang together. * The character of James T. Kirk was based on C.S. Forrester's Captain Horatio Hornblower. In the old Star Trek series Kirk was in his mid-thirties, the youngest starship captain in Starfleet, although Shatner was in his forties when he played him. * In Star Trek III, an admiral refers to the Enterprise as a twenty-year old ship (as it was about twenty years since the TV series ended), but the Enterpise was supposed to be a forty-year old ship when Kirk took command on TV. He was the third captain of the Enterprise, after Captains Christopher Pike and Robert T. April. * Spock, Scotty, and Dr. McCoy are older than Kirk, and they would have left Starfleet Academy before Kirk arrived. Also, when Kirk was un upperclassman at the Academy, Sulu and Uhura wouldn't even have been old enough to be plebes. * Spock served as a lieutenant commander on the Enterprise under Captain Pike. Spock and Kirk did not know each other before Kirk became the new captain. * In Star Trek II, Khan remembers Chekov, in spite of the fact that Chekov had not yet joined the Enterprise crew when they encountered Khan in the TV series. To appear as Chekov in the movie, Walter Koenig demanded a bigger part with more lines, so history was rewritten for him. The 2009 movie violates the original Star Trek "mythology" in three major ways: the Spock/Uhura romance, the death of Amanda (Spock's mother) and the destruction of Vulcan. Maybe the next movie will be a "set the timeline straight" story?
The Star Trek Movie from 2009 was pretty good, but personally I prefer Star Trek: The Original Series and the movies that were made to go along with the original series.
