Put them in a shallow pan season with salt, pepper, onion and garlic powder. put in a little water cover pan with foil. cook them suckers for at least 2 hours. check them on…ce in awhile to make sure there is still liquid in pan. maybe last half hour you can take the foil off to brown them. I use them to make carnitas in the crockpot. So easy and so yummy! See "related links" for the recipe.

Calabash (as far as the cooking category goes) is a way of cooking seafood that began in the small fishing village of Calabash, NC. The townspeople would show up at the docks …to see what the fishermen caught, and they would have a big, communal seafood meal right there. It eventually became so popular they moved it indoors and started a restaurant. One of the original restaurants, Beck's, is still open to this day. Calabash-style seafood (shrimp and flounder are most popular), is very fresh seafood coated in cornmeal instead of flour or batter, usually with a peppery spice added. I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure they soak it in buttermilk first, sometimes adding hotsauce. Then it is lightly and quickly fried. It's almost always served with cole slaw, but I don't know if they have a particular style of cole slaw or not.

Depending on what you mean by style of cooking, Style is the technique used for the application of ingredients to the method of cooking applied for a recipe, not to be confu…sed with the geographical location of recipe such as Italian style cooking, which is not a style but a cuisine, Greek cuisine Chinese cuisine etc, At the moment I can name three styles of cooking, there are more but have forgotten the rest. As a Chef my style of cooking is Aromatic there is also Fusion and Country (Peasant). For example, as in an Irish Cuisine we will use the cooking method of stewing to create an Irish stew, Country style will fill the pot with water and throw in the ingredients and leave to stew, Aromatic will first sweat (cooking method) the ingredients, herbs and spices in different order to develop smell and taste to the desired affect then add the water or stock to stew, fusion may use either of these styles but introduce ingredients from different cuisines such as Yams or Rice instead of Potato or Ostrich instead of Lamb etc. each style will produce a different taste notable between aromatic and country by intensity of flavour, taste and texture, and the creation of a new taste and different flavour of the original by the fusion of new ingredients and or cooking methods (eg braising instead of stewing) to the recipe
