OpinionIt seems that David and Jonathan might have been gay in The Bible.

"Now it came about when he had finished speaking to Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as himself. Saul took him that day and did not let him return to his father's house. Then Jonathan made a covenant with David because he loved him as himself." (First Book of Samuel)

Another case is the sad story of the Levite and his concubine. The concubine was unfaithful to him and returned to her father's house rather than face her husband. The husband went to get her and spend several days staying at the father's house. Eventually on the way home they stopped the night in Gibeah. Nobody offered them shelter until an old man came along.

"You are welcome at my house," the old man said. "Let me supply whatever you need. Only don't spend the night in the square." So he took him into his house and fed his donkeys. After they had washed their feet, they had something to eat and drink.

While they were enjoying themselves, some of the wicked men of the city surrounded the house. Pounding on the door, they shouted to the old man who owned the house, "Bring out the man who came to your house so we can have sex with him."

The owner of the house went outside and said to them, "No, my friends, don't be so vile. Since this man is my guest, don't do this outrageous thing.

Look, here is my virgin daughter, and his concubine. I will bring them out to you now, and you can use them and do to them whatever you wish. But as for this man, don't do such an outrageous thing." But the men would not listen to him.

So the man took his concubine and sent her outside to them, and they raped her and abused her throughout the night, and at dawn they let her go. At daybreak the woman went back to the house where her master was staying, fell down at the door and lay there until daylight. (Judges: 19)

The men at first demanded the man, but accepted the female concubine. Not gay as I know it.

Read lev 20:20 homosexuality is an abomination unt the Lord God never made a man to lay with a man or woman with woman it takes a man an woman to become fruitful and produce children that's natural affection in the book of Dan 11:37 the bible describes a king who is Satan himself and it says that he has no desire for a woman which says then that homosexualality started with Satan and those that are homosexuals are the children of Satan and will end up in hell.

Biblical Scholar's Answer

The Hebrew Bible says absolutely nothing about gays, since the concept of sexual orientation was completely unknown in Biblical times. Leviticus 18:22 has been used to persecute gay people, but it actually offers multiple interpretations. Even the most traditional interpretation only talks about sex, not sexual orientation.

More compelling is Leviticus 2:18, which says:

וַיֹּאמֶר ה׳ אֱלֹוקים, לֹא-טוֹב הֱיוֹת הָאָדָם לְבַדּוֹ; אֶעֱשֶׂה-לּוֹ עֵזֶר, כְּנֶגְדּוֹ׃

And the ETERNAL G-d said: 'It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper for him.

The Hebrew word for Helper in this verse is ezer (עזר) which is masculine. Now it is true that masculine Hebrew nouns can also be used generically to include the feminine, but if this "helper" was only supposed to be a woman, we would expect the word ozeret (עוזרת). We can conclude that this verse could apply to male helpers or female helpers.

; Leviticus 18:22, Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. ;

; Leviticus 20:13, If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them. ;

; Romans 1:26-27, For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature. And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

Nobody. Sexual orientation was not understood at all in the Bible. There are verses that are interpreted by some Christians and Jews to prohibit same-sex sexual activity, but nowhere does it actually mention homosexuality.

Answer:

If "homosexuality" is taken to mean sexual intercourse between two people of the same gender, Moses wrote (Leviticus ch.18) that it is forbidden for two men to do so.

There is no neuroimaging technique that can definitively show a difference between the brains of homosexuals and heterosexuals. Sexual orientation is complex and influenced by a combination of genetic, hormonal, and environmental factors.
