It is not uncommon to experience sadness and grief when you've left your native country. You've left behind everything you knew, everything that felt "normal" and usual. Even if your native land had problems, or even if you needed to move, your homeland was still Home. Many people find they need to bring their culture and cultural values with them when coming into a new country. Even small remembrances in your new house or apartment can make the missing feel less difficult. As well, keeping in touch with friends in your new country and in your native country can help smooth out the lonely times. Talk to your Elders or spiritual Leaders for their advice, too.
