it could be a few things......if your car has an anti-theft system in it, it wouldn't let power to your car if its activated. also, check your starter relay, it is, on most cars, inside the driver side wheel well(you must take the tire off, and the splash guard too), it will be right there. after you check that, check the starter, and the starter solenoid. if all is well, it is your ignition switch.
Answerthe first thing you should check is your battery. Just bring it in to have it checked for free at an auto parts store. AnswerCHECK THE FUSE LINK IT A RED WIRE WITH A ROUND CYCLINDER WITH WIRE COMING OUT FROM EACH END, USUALLY BY THE BATTERY OR THE STARTER SOME VEHICLE HAVE ONE CONNECTOR THAT HOLD ALL THE FUSELINK FOLLOW THE POS CABLE WIRE TO SEE WHERE IT CONNECTED TO AND SEE IF IT HAS ALL THE FUSELINKTHE NEXT WAY TO CHECK WHY YOU HAVE NO POWER. CONNECT A 12 VOLT TEST LIGHT [FIRST MAKE SURE YOUR BATTERY HAS 12.5 VOLT] BLACK WIRE TO NEG POS AND THE RED TO THE STARTER IF THE TEST LIGHT UP YOUR FUSELINK IS GOOD IF NOT YOUR FUSELINK IS BURNFIND THE FUSELINK AND REPLACE IT
P.S IF YOUR BATTERY IS COMPLETELY DEAD THE TEST WOULD NOT BE GOOD MAKE SURE YOUR BATTERY FULLY CHARGE. ITS A MUST
I HOPE THIS CAN HELP YOU
AnswerI would have this problem, occurring about 1-3 times a month; always recently after turning the ignition off. One day I finally discovered that it was the ignition key itself, which became worn over time. It was not inserting far enough to cause the switch to work. If i make a concious effert to insert the key in straight and fully each time, it will and always has started ever since. Answerwell, if u look on the passenger side and u open the door, look on the side of the dashboard. there is a fuse box there. fuse #39 is the one u should check... i have had mine blow and ur car will not start without itChevrolet Lumina was created in 1989.
