ANSWER

if your having a leak into the inside of the car on the passenger side, your heater core probably is cracked or has a loose hose. that leakage is an automatic sign of heater core replacement needed.

I had an over heating problem, no body can figure out, turns out the fin, in front of the radior, under the car was missing, as the weather grew hot I the temp was going to 260.The fin has improved it, also changed the computer, and boy it made a big difference on proformance. Now with the ac on after about 20 minutes in traffic when its over 80m degrees outside, car temp starts to rise.Changed the radiator, therostat, to 160, and changed the relays in front of the drivers side, in the engine compartment. I am thinking of getting a big block raditor, instead of paying a mech out of My ( ). Also the ac is leaking inside the passengers side, mmm. If I make the fan run all the time, its fine, but I'm still bent on finding out the problem.....

Did you replace the thermostat, and have the radiator flushed? If not, do so.

AnswerI have a 92 RS with a 305 TBI/automatic transmission that had a similar prob except i had a cracked radiator, when I removed the radiator i noticed that there was a build up of leaves and trash between the A/C cooler and the radiator, how they ended up there i have no idea, but it definatly made a difference in cooling the engine because the radiator is so small for the engine size. I also changed the fan and thermostat as a precaution due to the age of the vehicle, make sure you get the correct thermostat for your model, and check your fan operation by letting the car idle and heat up to operating temperature. It should kick in automatically(if its electric like mine), mine does at appx 220 degrees on the factory gauge. Also make sure your radiator cap is in good condition if it's questionable replace it since its a pressurized system. AnswerI agree, have radiator professionally cleaned/flushed if its dirty, maybe your fan isn't clicking on. I have a 93 v6 and that was the problem so I wired the fan to a switch/permanent on. check for coolant leaks. I found it is better to use the temp switch in the radiator and wiring it to controle the fan as the fan is only needed at idle. bad cores in radiars is the primary cause of overheating and this is caused by using water only in your system. AnswerI did the same thing with my 91 Z28 and ran it to a wire that was hot when the car was on.. This seems to work much better and the can hardly ever gets over 220 now.

My temp gaugebmw 318 e46 rises for no reason can anyone help already replaced the thermo sensor?

Does that mean that you replaced the thermostat AND the sensor? If not, you really need to replace the thermostat. A sticking thermostat can cause temperature swings and potentially overheat the engine. BTW, BMW engines tend to have serious problems when they overheat. Don't let it overheat or you might be buying a new engine.

Why are my 1998 Camaro v-6 cooling fans not coming on.i have replaced all relays temp sensor in block and jumped relay so i know the fan motors work?

the switch in the computer is what turns the fans on when the coolant sensor reaches 222 f or the a/c is on. its probably a bad computer
