It could be several things. First things first, you should see a doctor as soon as possible. It's always the best bet. Now, let's see. It could be a problem with your kidneys, they are in your lower back, how old are you...could be kidney stones, but I doubt it. Could just be lower Back pain, do you do frequent or recent strenuous labor from bending over or lifting lots of weight? Also, it could be your appendix. This is a serious problem, that if left untreated for very long could be life threatening. Don't wait, seek professional medical treatment.

∙ 15y agoDepending on many factors, the most common reasons for this are muscular or skeletal damage or injury around the L4-L5 vertebrae. If this is the case, the injury can be temporary, although most people eventually suffer from back pain in the lumbar region eventually -- most likely as a result of us deciding to walk upright instead of swinging from trees -- a design flaw. Coupled with a fever, other possibiliies exist. Kidney infections are possible, as are infections of the reproductive tract in women. However, these are far less likely than the first guess.
