There are several options for a minor skin cut near the rectum -- an external cut. First, obviously, use care when wiping after a bowel movement. Second, because feces contains E-coli bacteria, you ALSO MUST gently wash the area after EVERY bowel movement. Do not rub. Instead, lay a warm wash cloth on the area and PAT -- lift the cloth, pat it back into place... repeat. Make sure the water is warm, not steaming hot. Then, PAT DRY the area with soft toilet tissue paper. After drying, wash your hands--just so you don't spread E-coli to things you touch. Next, put a small dab of neosporin or A&D ointment on the area. Neosporin is in first aid in the pharmacy...A&D ointment may be infirst aidor baby care aisle.

Witch Hazel is an antiseptic that is used EXTERNALLY---it will burn badly for 15 seconds, but then it feels cool. It reduces inflamed tissue near the anus.

If it is similar to the irritation from hemorrhoids, that kind of cream can help reduce the sting and burning.

The main problem with a cut near the anus is infection. Keep it clean, dry, and covered with ointment. If it doesn't heal within a week, see your doctor for a prescription antibacterial cream.

If this is an internal cut... I'd recommend talking to your doctor or call any pharmacy. The problem is, you can't see how long or how deep the cut is. If the cut is inside the rectum---beyond the sphincter--the doctor can prescribe a cream you can use internally.

P.S. Short nails really help reduce cuts from scratching. Also, if you find yourself often to be itchy there, you may not be rinsing soap off completely.
