I bet it made a nice grinding sound didnt it? Yes, it can if you are going too fast. If it actually goes into low gear it will seriously spike the rpms and potential valve and lifter damage. This is what a rev limiter helps avoid though. If the engine sounded like it started sputtering when this happened then it is a good thing. It is one of those situations that you just have to let it go to see if it breaks. Good luck.
I've had this happen to me as well. I had a 1998 ZJ Laredo 2x4. I found the problem was the PCM. After I replaced the PCM, no more problem.
You could blow your engine up.
You may have to pull the fuse. I t has happen a few times on my 95 Laredo. Look in your manual for the fuse that control the lights.
Engine damage from poor lubrication.
The engine would smoke and damage the bores.
The engine will stop running. This is not an interference engine so there will be no engine damage. Just replace the belt.
Bent/broken valves, lifters, pistons, etc. Major engine damage.
what it will do is damage your injectors unless u take it right to a mechanic to get the injectors cleaned
It will cause the engine to run rough and eventually it will damage the valve and rocker.
yes u will have to have the engine drained dunno how much it will cost i hope i help
Either it will not run at all, or run very poorly. Either is likely to do severe damage to the engine.
