Well, you figure it out:

1. People didn't bathe very often.

2. Deodorants wouldn't be invented for another 350 years.

3. There were no feminine hygiene products.

4. There were no sewers. People dumped sewage on the streets in the cities. In a town like Stratford they dumped it in an open pit.

5. Slaughterhouses had to be maintained near to where people lived. The waste parts of the animals were just thrown in their backyards.

6. If a cat or dog died in the street, it stayed there until the rats ate it.

it smelt absolutely disgusting. People chucked their excrement out of windows, led pigs around the streets like dogs and bathed about once a year. Everyone drunk ale instead of water, so the stench of beer was rife. The Thames was basically an open sewer. (this is london by the way)

What does the element gold smell like?

Silver does not have an exact smell nor a strong one Ed: Actually, it does, but the smell is hard to describe. Try smelling a genuine silver item and then compare it to other (perhaps supposedly) silver items. This is a great method if you are interested in antiques and want to see if a certain item is genuine silver. Good luck!! =D
