What does a brain cell do?

2)It performs all intellectual activities like thinking, reasoning, imagination and memory.

3) It performs emotional activities like love, anger, compassion etc.

4) It indirectly control automatic functions of body ( via hypothalamus ) through autonomic nervous system.

5) It perform all movements of body through motor system.

There are about 100 billion neurons connected to each other through few hundreds to about 2,00,000 synapses and our present day knowledge about how does it work is very primitive. All this occurs through passage of impulse through nerve cells.

Well, we aren't what they precisely do... but we do have a good lead on it. It sends and receives electrical pulses to other brain cells and they to pass them on till it reaches its destination causing body functions and that's what we THINK they do.
