Cells that become cancerous grow uncontrollably and often invade healty tissue (in the lungs, intestine, and other organs). When this happens, it starts to inhibit the way the organ(s) functions. The fact that cancer can spread to adjacent tissue and organs (called metastisis) will often lead to the host's death.
