There are some vegetables that can cause a lot of gastrointestinal gas. My Wrestling coach taught us about nutrition and came up with a way of remembering which were the vegetables that would cause the stinkiest and most abundant farts. He told us to avoid BRUKSCH vegetables, where BRUKSCH stands for:

1. Broccoli

2. Radishes

3. Ulluco

4. Kale

5. Sprouts (brussels sprouts and other sprouts)

6. Cauliflower

7. Hijiki (seaweed)

Guys on the team starting calling really stinking farts "bruksch" after coach taught us this, because the mnemonic device also sounds like the onomatopoeia of what those farts sound like when they come out.

Not all vegetables are good for you in unlimited quantities and if you are trying to eat really healthy you should just know that some veggies can make your body produce all kinds of foul gas that not only will stink the place up but will also make you have cramps and hurt yourself.

So, if you don't want to bruksch all day and chase your friends off, avoid the BRUKSCH veggies when you are shopping or at the salad bar!

Vegetables provide an important source of vitamins, minerals and nutrients our bodies need, as well as the fiber content. The benefit the vegetables provide depends on the type of vegetable it is, since different ones have different vitamins, minerals and nutrients and different fiber content. To get the most benefit from vegetables, it's best to eat a wide variety of them, eating at least 2 - 3 different kinds a day.

And, while the vast majority of veggies are filled with nutrients our bodies need, there are a few vegetables which actually have little to no nutritional value, such as iceberg lettuce, which has little to no nutrients and no fiber. Iceberg lettuce can actually give one a false sense of 'eating healthy' when they add a small amount of the 'good veggies' to a pile of iceberg lettuce, then pile on the high fat items, such as cheese and high fat salad dressing.

As for the fiber content of veggies, they serve two healthy benefits. One is that the fiber helps regulate and improve your intestinal health by preventing constipation. Another is the fiber content also helps reduce cholesterol levels, as well as removing plaque from the arteries, both of which are extremely beneficial to our health.
