I have a Hunter ceiling fan that is operate's by remote only, I have a red wire coming out of the ceiling where do I hook that wire ?
Ceiling fans powered by remote control are widely available. Some manufacturers of these fans and of ceiling fan remote controls include Del Mar, Monte Carlo, Litex and Hunter and a large selection is available at Lowe's, Home Depot and Wayfair.
There are many remote controls that would work with your Harbor Breeze Ceiling Fan. Check out the selection of replacement remotes at Lowes. http://www.harborbreeze-ceilingfans.com/harbor-breeze-remote-controls/
Unfortunately, ceiling fans don't have standardized remote controls, so you'll have to contact the manfacturer directly.

Harbor breeze ceiling fans are excellent quality at a reasonable price! But keep in mind there are pretty much troubles on these affordable ceiling fans. Or take a look at the link given here... http://www.ceiling-fan-wizard.com/harbor-breeze-ceiling-fans.html
You did not change the switch to make it go counterclockwise,
Remote controlled ceiling fans can be purchased at Hansen Wholesale. Some examples of remote controlled ceiling fans from Hansen Wholesale include high-efficiency, environmentally friendly fans that are also stylish and perfect for home decor.
The fan is wired to the house wrong. Typically the red switch wire in the ceiling box will be nutted off and not used when a remote is installed. Sounds like, in this case, the fan light wire (blue) was connected to the red switch wire in the ceiling box instead of being correctly connected to the remote unit at the fan.
Probably not. A ceiling fan's motor converts electricity into mechanical motion. While many electrical motors can also be run as generators ceiling fan designers most likely wouldn't include that feature in designs. Ceiling fans also have a capacitor to help generate enough torque to start a fan. Sending electricity back through a capacitor in the opposite direction is not recommended.
If the harmony website doesn't have a device listing for your fan, then you need to learn it. With the remote plugged in, and the harmony software running, you can select 'learn new command' somewhere in the menus. When it asks you to, point the original ceiling fan remote towards the back of the harmony, and teach it the buttons you wish to use. If you don't have the original fan remote, you may not be able to control it. Actually the main problem here is the 880 is not an RF remote and the Triton is an RF Fan. I use URC products so I am not sure what Harmony offers other than upgrading to the 890 remote. All you need to do is get something to translate your IR remote signals to RF for the fan.
After weeks of messing with my fan, I tried hitting the "off" and "med" buttons simultaneously. It worked!
