Best Answer

There was a time when the United States thought it was superior to Latin America; some presidents believed that it was acceptable to become involved in the politics of certain countries, intervening during civil unrest or helping to overthrow a leader believed to be unfriendly towards the United States.

But since we are now living in a globalized world, it is not useful for any country's leaders to feel superior. These days, representatives from the United States and Latin America often engage in trade and commerce, and their political leaders get together for conferences where they exchange ideas about improving the global economy. And while some Americans think America is better than anyplace else, American businesspeople and diplomats want to create positive relationships with Latin America.
