I just found out that mockingbirds love cantaloupe seeds! They seem to go crazy over them. We are still watching the activity. I recommend putting some out and observing them.
I had always thought these talented birds mostly ate just insects, but, according to the State of Maryland site, mockingbirds are very big on some berrys, including holly and blackberry.
These are incredible and talented birds, and are very aggressive to anyone that gets too close to their nesting areas! There is much information on the internet on these birds, including on You Tube.
