Well, it could and probably means that he loves you. I know that is not helpful. It depends on a lot of factors:who did the leaving, why, and the lot. If he did the leaving, then I would say that he regrets his decision, that or he is unsure about his decision and wants to keep you "available." Either way you will have to TALK to him to figure it out. However, if you did the leaving then it is probably a shorter way of saying that for whatever reason he was not ready for the relationship to end. If this is the case, you have to think if you want him in your life. I would recommend against calling him if there is no chance. There is no sense in encouraging him if you are done in the relationship.
