It means that the sewing machine is the E1 model manufactured by Brother (the company). This would be helpful, for example, should you lose the manual and need to find it online, using the model.
well, my mum says it's a weaving machine that make carpets
Found the question answered here already. Thanks anyway!
Late 50s or early 60s. My aunt got hers brand new when I was just a little girl and she passed recently. It was given to one of my cousins and we were talking about it then. That is one of the best sewing machines I've ever seen and the manual alone is worth about $21.00. Hope this helps.Mine says it was delivered in 1951 in the manual and partslist. If you set the tension right above the needle facing you to around 3 it should work, you are too loose! play with it, they are great machines!
The Kenmore model 158 19410 was made in 1975-1976. I bought mine new then and have never had any problems with it whatsoever - have never needed to take it anywhere for repairs or adjustments in all those years. I just keep it clean and make sure and oil it at least once a year and that's all it ever needs. I use it quite regularly and it is my favorite machine of all. They really don't make them like that any more. If you have one, hang on to it and enjoy sewing on a true quality machine!
When an iPad says that it is not charging, it simply must mean;YOUR iPAD IS NOT CHARGING!Silly numpty head! x

If it is a Brother fax it could mean that Dial Restrict is turned on. Instructions from Brother on how to turn that feature off have been placed in the related links section.
Sewing machines are generally the same,it is best to start with an older machine to lean the basics.
the information I have says between 1958-1962

I bought a used Rodney sewing machine in a wooden case in 1974. I cleaned and oil it and it is still running good!It is invaluable to my daughter. I would like to find an instruction manual on it! The model says "Precision SuperDeluxe" Serial number is F8101977
I have a Kenmore 158.542 sewing machine that I bought new in Feb 1964. Now I need a nylon(?) part that I haven't been able to find. Suellen I was just gifted one. The production date on the manual says November of 1962.
I have the Kenmore model 385.16120200 and my manual says there is a lever on the back of the free arm bed on the base of the machine(behind the needle platform thing). In order to lower the feed dog push the lever to the left (if you're looking at it from the back- towards the levers and knobs). In order to raise the feed dog, push the lever to the right (outwards) and turn the handwheel toward the front of the machine.
It means he likes your eyes but says "but" to your brother. If this isn't a very helpful answer, perhaps try making it a slightly more helpful question? Right now it's somewhat difficult to understand what you mean.
A moment of silence.. For our brother in the friendzone list.
