The Purple Heart Medal consists of a purple, heart-shaped badge that has a gold edging and the bust of George Washington in the center. It hangs from a Purple ribbon with thin white border. Link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Purple_Heart A Purple heart within a Gold border, 1 3/8 inches wide, containing a profile of General George Washington. Above the heart appears a shield of the Washington Coat of Arms (a White shield with two Red bars and three Red stars in chief) between sprays of Green leaves. The reverse consists of a raised Bronze heart with the words "FOR MILITARY MERIT" below the coat of arms and leaves. For more information, see the associated link.
To be correct, the first Purple Heart was not a medal at all, nor was it an official US Military medal. General George Washington, commander of the Continental Army during the American Revolution (1776-1783), personally awarded it to three Continental solders for apprehending Major Andre, a British spy. The award was a purple cloth in the shape of a heart, with white piping around the edge and a white colored FOR MERIT in the middle. After the war, the Purple Heart disappeared until resurrected by General Douglas MacArthur when he was Chief of Staff of the US Army in the early 1930's.
It is represented by a star. It is centered in the ribbon on the ribbon bar. On the medal, the star is on the drape.
Congress OKs any awards like that
NO! While the Purple Heart Medal is awarded for wounds received in combat, there is no pension attached to it, as there are some of the higher awards like the Medal of Honor, Distinguished Service Cross or the Soldier's Medal.
I am not aware of the Purple Heart ever being made with pure gold. The medallion that is made today is actually a brass core that has been anodized to the gold color.
Military regulations prohibit award of the Purple Heart Medal for things like heat stroke, frostbite and the like. The medal is awarded for wounds sustained while in combat during a period of war against an enemy of the USA. It is also not awarded for "self-inflicted" wounds.
The color purple was chosen for the name and color of the Purple Heart Medal because the original cloth Purple Heart, given by General Washington to only three soldiers during the American Revolution , was of that color,
Jackie Robinson Jr. did not receive the Purple Heart. The Purple Heart is awarded to members of the United States Armed Forces who are injured or killed in combat.
There are many companies that support purple heart car donations. Almost all of the major car manufacturer's support the purple hear car donations like Ford and Toyota.
No, they are like any specialized "privileged" license plates, (e.g.: handicapped tags) they are good only as long as the medal recepient is still living. Besides they are only good while they are issued to a vehicle registered to a medal recepient. You cannot register a vehicle in the name of a deceased person.
it is purple and white.

The Victoria cross is earned by an act of bravery in war situations by the British and commonwealth forces. It was started by Queen Victoria in the 19th century and has been carried on ever since. One of the most recent soldiers to receive it was Private Johnson Beharry. The medal will be similar in standing to the American Purple Heart. I hope you find this helpful. The Victoria Cross is nothing like the American equivalent of a purple heart. The Purple heart is awarded to anyone who is injured in battle. The Victoria cross is awarded for extraordinary acts of bravery in the face of the enemy. It is the highest honer which can be bestowed upon a member of the armed forces of commonwealth countries. It is similar in standing to the American Medal of Honor. You really should not be posting answers like the one above if you don't know what your talking about. I am sure the person who posted this response above did not intended any disrespect but is disrespectful to all those brave diggers who have been awarded the cross to have it compared to a purple heart.
Don't worry, it's like that. If you have the love bangle, you can see that after you do his black heart event his LP (Love Points) have gone up. Keep giving him stuff and when his heart turns purple, THEN you do the purple heart event. So you have to get the heart to the color of the event you want to do before you can do that event.
