Well, there are several #7s. You have:

  • Cranial nerve 7 - the facial nerve, which controls muscles of facial expression in addition to some aspects of taste, salavation, blinking, & tearing.
  • C7 - the 7th cervical nerve transmits sensation along the parts of the back of the forearm and arm & into the middle finger. It also is invlolved in muscle movements such as elbow extension and wrist flexion.
  • T7 - the 7th thoracic nerve controls some intercostal muscle function and skin sensation in a small patch of skin from just below the shoulder blades to a few inches above the belly button. This nerve also is involved in autonomic innervation to some vital organs in the abdomen.
