This is pretty much trivial and up to you and how much work you want to put into it. obviously any of the other base model cavalier engines in the same "generation" interchange easily ie: 2.2l l4 ohc, 2.4l dohc, possibly an Ecotec engine if you have a newer generation Cavalier. the truth is every engine requires some bit of customization with harnessing and wiring and such as long as you can fit the engine in the compartment and on an appropriate transaxle, so whatever engine you want you'll have to build around it with that engine's electronics, specs, etc ...
Both Cavalier engines, the 2.2 & 2.4 in 2000 are DOHC.
all engines in 2002 cavalier have timing chains.gmjim I just purchased a 2002 Cavalier with a DOHC engine. I think that it owuld have a belt instead of a chain.
I have a 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier. I believe it has the same engine. 2.4L DOHC 4-CYL = About 150 HP Stock.
If it is a 2.4 liter engine with dohc it does not have a dip stick... it is a sealed transmission.
They dont have timing belts. There are timing chains on both the 2.2L OHV and the 2.4L DOHC engines.
YES...And I mean BAD BEND
Cavalier
If it's a 2.4 L DOHC motor, there is no EGR valve.
Please ask this question again specifying the year of cavalier and the engine. Also, are there words that seem to make it stutter more than other words? Do you have one of these engines? 2.8L 2.5L 2.2L OHV 2.2L Ecotec 2.2L Quad4 SOHC 2.4L Quad4 DOHC Have you had a tune-up lately?
Maybe, or maybe not. There is a 2.2L pushrod Chevy engine, in 1998 and '99 then there is the 2.2L Ecotec DOHC. Different engines completely
Chevy Cavalier didn't have 6 cylinders after 1994. They were all 4 cylinder engines 1995 an on. Instead the z24 models had DOHC engines starting with the quad 4 the the twin Cam and later the Eco-tec. The newer model th cobalt had a newer version of the Eco-tec, the ss models being higher Diplacement and/or supercharged/turbocharged. Horsepower didn't change much from the v6 to the 4 cylinder it about 10 horsepower gain, while torque dropped fro about 185 to 150 in the z24s.
2.2L OHV or a 2.4L DOHC engine..... anyway,,,,, get a repair manual or go to autozone.com click repair info.
