The Islamic Revolution may refer to the Iranian revolution in 1979. In this revolution, the Shah was deposed, and an Islamic governing body took over. This governing body enforced a strict and fanatic vision of what they thought Islam should be like; among other things, the rights of women were severely restricted, as were the rights of religious minorities, especially the Bahá'ís.
