When you connect the battery backwards you can cause major damage. You can blow the alternator or its fusible link. You can destroy electronics, particularly the various computers - and these are not cheap.
On some if you put the battery in backwards the clock will run backwards.
You could have blown fuses, melted wiring or damaged computers.
When replacing the battery on my son's Kawasaki Vulcan 500, I accidentally hooked up the battery backwards. I had purchased an EverStart battery from Wal-Mart and the orientation of the main battery terminals was backwards from the original battery. Anyway, it blew the main fuse located in the left hand side side cover.
Rotors can only go in correctly one way and will usually snap in place. If you manage to put one in backwards the car will not start and it will likely tear up the cap and rotor.
My question is why would anyone do this? But since you asked. It will ruin the battery.

you can hook a car radio directly to a car battery or even a car battery charger with out problems, I have done it myself, the only thing to remember is that it needs to have 12 volts and the polarity (+ -) needs to be correct.
You have some serious problems. Hooking up a battery backwards plays hell with the electronics. If you really want to keep the car you will probably have to replace a lot if not all the electronic control devices that manage your engine.

Most of the time you cannot put these on backwards because the filters normally have a big end and a small end. Most are labeled in and out. But if this happens, the car will not run correctly when it is started because it will not have enough gas.
when you reverse connect a battery there is a good chance you will blow the main fuse this will protect the car from more damage but usually stops the battery for been charged as well... check and change the main fuse or fuseable link The alternator probably already was bad before you put the battery in.
