The 1998 Yamaha R1/YZF-R1 had 150 horsepower and a 5-valve design. When the 2007 model came out, the horsepower had been increased to 180.

The Yamaha YZF-R1 generates about 128 horsepower. It reaches 60 miles per hour from zero in 2.96 and has a quarter mile time of 10.31 seconds.
Lastest version was 146.2bhp at th rear wheel.
The transmission is housed inside the engine cases. The 04 R1 has a redesigned engine that is not the same as the 2000 model, I'm sure it wont fit.
