The hummingbird moth in the Sphingidae family is a flying insect that resembles the humming bird. Some of these insects have black and white striped bodies and a long beak, or proboscis. They eat nectar as the birds do.
"Where do you live, cause I found the same thing in my house. It was about 1.5" long and is as you described it. We were thinking of taking it into the local university for analyzing." It's actually a Cicada Killer. The females have stingers but are very non-aggressive. The stingers are only used on their prey: the locust. Males are very aggresive when defending their nest, but are without stingers. We have them up in PA too. We live in VA and have discovered the bees living undeground in the soft sand under the rocks...and have observed them killing and taking a cicada down.
Bald face or white faced hornets have a black body with a white band covering their face. They also have very large stingers.
Dragonflies often times have metallic black wings that shimmer in the daylight. They can have red bodies and do not have stingers.
An insect that has a white body and two pairs of black square wings could be a nymph. The nymph is commonly found near vegetables.
It is possible that the insect with clear wings and white body with some black is a type of termite. They are destructive insects. If one is seen near a home, it would be a good idea to call an exterminator.
After much research, I have come to the conclusion that thrips are defined as an orange flying and biting insect. I was at a park today with my children, and I was wearing white and blue. Apparently these bugs are vegetation but will "taste" humans to determine if they are a source of food.
Woolly aphids are a type of insect that looks like a small, white feather on a leaf. The white fluff that makes the insect look like a feather is a type of wax it secretes as a type of defense mechanism.

Its body is similar to a bee, and the wings are shaped like a moth. I know it is not a dragonfly.
An insect that can have a black body and yellow tail, flies, and stings may be a hornet. Many species of wasps and hornets match this description.
a butterfly and a snow tiger
Perhaps, a Sphex digger wasp. They have black and white stripes and a stinger almost as long as their body.

It's either a dragonfly or a damselfly. Depends on how big it is.
The eight-spotted flea beetle of Brazil and Suriname is a bug whose body is white-dotted. The insect in question (Omophoita cyanipennis) showcases eight large white dots along the upper part of its black body. Its body terminates in six black-colored segmented legs and a black-topped pink head whose two segmented antennae are black.
