Somehow, Irish Americans forgot all that and thanks to capitalism and bar owners over the decades, it has turned into a day of consuming copious amounts of alcohol that they just can't handle while eating corned beef (not Irish) and cabbage and wearing green. Ireland is known as the land of saints, sinners and poets. It has given us millions of immigrants over the centuries who through their blood, sweat and lives built this country with sheer force and determination to have better lives for themselves and their children.
