Gouramis are beautiful! Their color depends on the type, but they are all pretty similar looking otherwise. They are tall and thin and have wide dorsal and pelvic fins but a relatively small caudal fin. They have a superior mouth and two long feeler-like rays at the front of their bodies.

∙ 9y agoThe name Gourami describes a wide variety of Top Feeding Asian Labyrinth fish with Modified pelvic fins used as Feelers so they can move about through the murky waters of Asia.
What a lot of people don't know, Betta fish are Gouramis too.

The Kissing gourami (Helostoma temminckii) is of a completely different species from the Opaline gourami (Trichogaster trichopterus). They are totally unrelated.
