They are carnivorous and look actively for insects with their excellent sense of smell. They reside in tropical areas of Africa and Asia. Their sharp claws allow them to burrow for food and provide an excellent defense. When threatened they curl up into a ball so that their scales provide a sort of armor. They have very developed problem solving areas of the brain which allow them to scour for food and escape dangerous situations.
